AVP/SMUSA International Awards – Established by and reporting to the Vice-President, Academic and Research, in the fall of 2003, then International Mobility Awards Committee oversees a fund to support full time and part-time Saint Mary’s University undergraduate and graduate students to participate & enrolled in approved international students exchange programs or other approved international experiences. The funding for this scholarship awards has been contributed by the office of the Vice President Academic and Research and the Saint Mary’s University Students Association (SMUSA).
Types of activities are supported by AVP/SMUSA International Awards:
- Study abroad for academic credit (sessions year, semester or summer);
- Training Group at international level;
- Courses outside Canada;
- Volunteers, who are recognized as part of an academic credit programs, and
- Other possibilities in terms of international experience to be considered if the applicant can demonstrate to the committee, the satisfaction OSA is determined that the experience will contribute significantly to their specific program of study in Santa Maria, University OSA.
Eligibility for AVP/SMUSA International Awards :
For an award a student must be considered:
- Being a registered of Saint Mary, University of OSA in full-time students or part-time in a degree program or graduate;
- Have completed the equivalent of at least one year studying in Santa Maria, OSA (ie, at least ten 3 hours credit for students or equivalent for students) at the time of scheduled departure;
- Being on time (ie, not on academic probation);
- Participate in an approved international program or activity of Santa Maria, University OSA, as determined by the Office of International Activities, in consultation with the Vice-President Academic.
Note:
Preference is given to candidates who have not previously received an award.
AVP/SMUSA International Awards | Application Process
The student must complete the enclosed form for consideration by the International Committee Mobility Awards. There are two competitions for the 2011 -2012 academic year, or for international exchange of experience between 1 September 2011 and August 31 of last year 2012. The deadlines for applications are March 15, 2011 and November 1, 2011 at 16:00.

The Committee will assign a fixed value for the awards, AI $ 2,000 $ 500. The price should not exceed 50% of the cost of international experience.
