Successful applicants will then have their scholarships ‘topped up’ to $25,000 per annum tax free. This is a full-time scholarship for three years with the possibility of a six month extension in approved circumstances.

Canadian Insurance Claims Manager’s Association Scholarship at Wilfrid Laurier University

The Canadian Insurance Manager’s Association Scholarship will serve to recognize the improved academic achievement of a BBA or Honours Economics student with a demonstrated interest in insurance. The Canadian Insurance Claim’s Managers’ Association wishes to recognize a student who is not the “typical” awards recipient, but who shows excellent potential, as measured by improvement in the Grade Point Average since their first year of studies; awarded to the student who has demonstrated the greatest academic improvement, as measured by increase in GPA from years 1 through 3.

- Recipients must be in fourth year of the BBA or Honours Economics program, with a demonstrated interest in the Insurance field;
- enrolled in or successfully completed BU353, and will be enrolled in BU419(Property & Liability Insurance) and BU 429 (Capital Market Issues with Property & Liability Insurance);
- recipients will have demonstrated good character, an individual who the faculty members teaching the insurance concentration courses deem worthy of winning an award, but who has not and will not be awarded any existing scholarships available to students in the insurance concentration;
- in the event that multiple students qualify for the scholarship under the above terms, the award will go to the individual who has demonstrated the most extra curricular university involvement as determined by their application;

2012 2013 International Human Rights Fellowships in New York or Washington, D.C.

Fellows work full-time for one year with Human Rights Watch typically in New York or Washington, D.C., or in some instances in another location. Fellows monitor human rights developments in various countries, conduct on-site investigations, draft reports on human rights conditions, and engage in advocacy and media outreach aimed at publicizing and curtailing human rights violations. Past fellows have conducted research and advocacy on numerous different issues in countries all over the world. Recent examples include projects on: civil and political rights in Cuba; criminal defamation laws in Indonesia; the rights of persons with mental disabilities in Croatia; corporal punishment of children in public schools in the US; abuses against migrant domestic workers in Kuwait; and police brutality in Brazil.

Applicants must demonstrate a strong background in international human rights and be committed to building a career in human rights. Research experience, including experience conducting interviews, ideally in the context of human rights research, is required. Field experience in human rights is strongly desirable. Applicants must have exceptional analytic skills and excellent oral and written communications skills in English. Proficiency in one language in addition to English is strongly desired as is familiarity with countries or regions where serious human rights violations occur. Applicants should be highly motivated and well-organized; able to work quickly and well under pressure, both independently and as a member of a team; juggle multiple tasks; and meet tight deadlines. The Fellowship year will require creativity, initiative, perseverance, and flexibility while maintaining HRW’s high methodological standards. Graduates with LL.B. degrees or advanced degrees in other relevant disciplines may also be considered.

University of Sydney  Scholarships for 2012 – University of Sydney is pleased to announce the International Fellowship of Sydney new  Entrepreneurs international students at 2012.

University of Sydney  Scholarships for 2012 (undergraduate)

30 scholarships of AUD $ 10,000 per year for a maximum of three years (a total of AUD $ 30,000) for each course at the University of Sydney (subject to the recipients receive satisfactory progress in learning each year) are offered.

No compensation will be paid.

Eligibility criteria for University of Sydney  Scholarships for 2012
Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification or an international senior secondary qualification accepted by the University with an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of at least 98* or equivalent.

Students who commenced tertiary education or career changers with credit exemptions and / or have advanced standing are not eligible. Students completed Foundation Studies programs are not eligible.

University of Sydney  Scholarships for 2012 (postgraduate)

30 scholarships of AUD $ 10,000 for each as a unique prize (total value of AUD $ 10,000) offered for each trainee program of the University of Sydney.

AVP/SMUSA International Awards for International Students Exchange Programs, Canada

AVP/SMUSA International Awards – Established by and reporting to the Vice-President, Academic and Research, in the fall of 2003, then International Mobility Awards Committee oversees a fund to support full time and part-time Saint Mary’s University undergraduate and graduate students to participate & enrolled  in approved international students exchange programs or other approved international experiences. The funding for this scholarship awards has been contributed by the office of the Vice President Academic and Research and the Saint Mary’s University Students Association (SMUSA).

Types of activities are supported by AVP/SMUSA International Awards:

  •  Study abroad for academic credit (sessions year, semester or summer);
  •  Training Group at international level;
  •  Courses outside Canada;
  •  Volunteers, who are recognized as part of an academic credit programs, and
