2012 2013 International Human Rights Fellowships in New York or Washington, D.C.

Fellows work full-time for one year with Human Rights Watch typically in New York or Washington, D.C., or in some instances in another location. Fellows monitor human rights developments in various countries, conduct on-site investigations, draft reports on human rights conditions, and engage in advocacy and media outreach aimed at publicizing and curtailing human rights violations. Past fellows have conducted research and advocacy on numerous different issues in countries all over the world. Recent examples include projects on: civil and political rights in Cuba; criminal defamation laws in Indonesia; the rights of persons with mental disabilities in Croatia; corporal punishment of children in public schools in the US; abuses against migrant domestic workers in Kuwait; and police brutality in Brazil.

Applicants must demonstrate a strong background in international human rights and be committed to building a career in human rights. Research experience, including experience conducting interviews, ideally in the context of human rights research, is required. Field experience in human rights is strongly desirable. Applicants must have exceptional analytic skills and excellent oral and written communications skills in English. Proficiency in one language in addition to English is strongly desired as is familiarity with countries or regions where serious human rights violations occur. Applicants should be highly motivated and well-organized; able to work quickly and well under pressure, both independently and as a member of a team; juggle multiple tasks; and meet tight deadlines. The Fellowship year will require creativity, initiative, perseverance, and flexibility while maintaining HRW’s high methodological standards. Graduates with LL.B. degrees or advanced degrees in other relevant disciplines may also be considered.

The Alliance-BNP Paribas Scholarship 2011 in USA and France

Research Position in Tumour Biology at Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland

Overview
We are currently seeking an Experienced Researcher to join the Tumour Biology team at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (St. Stephens Green, Dublin, Ireland). RCSI is currently coordinating the Marie-Curie Industry Academia Pathways and Partnership (IAPP) project, AngioTox (www.angiotox.com) in association with 7 other collaborators across Europe. The researcher recruited to RCSI will be recruited to perform aspects of this project and will be responsible for a number of pre-clinical in vivo toxicity studies performed during this project.

The main goal of AngioTox is to comprehensively describe toxicity patterns and mechanisms, following treatment with the two main class of angiogenesis inhibitor, namely monoclonal antibodies and tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Specifically, we aim to identify safety related biomarkers following short, medium and long-term treatment with clinically approved inhibitors of angiogenesis (bevacizumab, sorafenib and sunitinib) either alone or in combination with standard
chemotherapeutics.

Master Degree Scholarships at University of Oulu

University of Oulu Master’s Scholarships – University of Oulu provide 2.4 million Euro in financial aid to academically talented students in architecture sciences, business, economics, education, engineering and natural science. The scholarship is aimed to students studying for a master’s degree at the University of Oulu two years of international master’s programs. The fellowship is one academic year and covers the entire international student fees.

To receive this University of Oulu Master’s Scholarships in the second year of study, the student must have completed 45 ECTS by the end of his first academic year. If a student does not meet this requirement, they are required to pay full international fees if you decide to pursue a master’s degree.

University of Oulu Master’s Scholarships Requirements / Conditions

  • Applicants are entitled to attend University of Oulu Master’s Scholarships when he/she:
    Non-EU/EEA citizens who do not have a permanent residence permit in Finland.

Overview

This scholarship is open to nationals of the following APEC member economies to pursue a full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme at NTU: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, United States, Vietnam.

Eligibility criteria

  • Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents are not eligible to apply
  • A good bachelor’s degree
  • At least two years of management or professional experience
  • Proficiency in the English Language
  • An acceptable score in the Graduate Management Admission Test [GMAT]
  • You should not be on paid employment or accept paid employment or concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, bursary or top-up allowance during the prescribed period of the award

Bond

There is no bond attached to the scholarship. No deferment of scholarship awarded will be allowed. Awards that are not taken up will be given to other qualified candidates.

Coverage

  • Each scholarship is tenable for 4 trimesters (≈ 16 months) only
  • Each scholarship shall cover the following:
  • Monthly stipend of S$ 1,400.00
  • Book allowance of S$ 500.00
  • Tuition fee, health insurance, examination fee and other approved fees, allowances and expenses
  • Cost of one overseas Business Study Mission (for MBA candidates only) undertaken within the tenable period of the scholarship
  • Cost of travel from home country to Singapore on award of the scholarship
  • Cost of travel from Singapore to home country on successful completion of the Masters degree within the tenable period of the scholarship

Application procedure

Open in November and close in December each year. Application for the APEC scholarship is to be submitted online. Applicants are advised to print and keep a copy of their online application for reference.

After submitting the online application, applicants should check that the Transcript Request Form is printed and sent to the appropriate authority of the University or institution attended for a transcript to be issued directly to this University. Specific instruction are given in the form.

Supporting documents need to be sent to MBA office by post. Applications without application fee or supporting documents will not be processed.

Please print “APEC SCHOLARSHIP” on the top left hand corner of the envelope.

Upon receipt of your application form and application fee, an acknowledgement will be issued to you. The acknowledgement also serves as the receipt of payment of the application fee.
