Eligibility: If have (or are expecting) a first-class honours degree (or equivalent) in engineering or a relevant applied science discipline from a high-level academic institution.
You would spend the first year studying full time on one of our postgraduate (PhD) engineering programmes at our UK campus before moving to Malaysia to continue your research and to provide laboratory and tutorial support to undergraduate students. We anticipate that you would spend around 40 per cent of your time on teaching and learning support activities.
Please note that the teaching assistant responsibilities may not be evenly spread throughout the year and will be at the request of the Head of Academic Administration of out Malaysia campus. Upon competition of you PhD, you will be considered for academic posts at our Malaysia campus.
Research topics Current projects on offer include:
1. Contact mechanics of structured and carbon nanotube surfaces for electrical applications
2. Relationship between three-dimensional structured surfaces and hydrodynamic forces
3. Computational analysis of repetitive two-dimensional plate-like structures
4. Computational analysis of foam structures
