PhD Scholarships in Bio/Nanotechnology in Australia

Additionally, opportunities exist for students to undertake commercialisation training while undertaking their research studies.
The Person: Successful applicants should possess a fi rst class honours degree in engineering or science, coupled with a desire to pursue a career in research.
Remuneration: Students are required to apply for a living allowance scholarship from The University of Queensland. Successful applicants will then have their scholarships ‘topped up’ to $25,000 per annum tax free. This is a full-time scholarship for three years with the possibility of a six month extension in approved circumstances.

For a post-graduate students, mainly from Indonesia, used in Indonesia and selected as specified, Panasonic Scholarships for 2012 is entirely up to 8,000,000 yen per person for a three-year master’s program at a university in Japan

About Panasonic Scholarships for 2012

in commemoration of its 80th anniversary in 1998, Panasonic Corporation decided to launch Panasonic Scholarship Program to invite graduate students from Asian countries including Indonesia to pursue a master’s course in Japan. This scholarship provides promising students from these countries a good opportunity to do research in universities in Japan and enable them to contribute to the development of their countries and to promote friendship between these countries and Japan in the 21st Century.

Panasonic Scholarship will be for three years starting in April are available, consisting of: Year One – Registration of research at universities in Japan and Japanese language training institutes Japanese year two and three – Sign up and you do not fill the master’s program all the time in Japan longer than three years, under any circumstances. The scholarship will be discontinued when stock is not registered at a university in Japan within one year after arrival in Japan

Basic Grant / Tuition: 150,000 yen per month.
Providing arrival ¥ 200,000 will be paid to the candidate in March.

Research Position in Tumour Biology at Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland

Overview
We are currently seeking an Experienced Researcher to join the Tumour Biology team at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (St. Stephens Green, Dublin, Ireland). RCSI is currently coordinating the Marie-Curie Industry Academia Pathways and Partnership (IAPP) project, AngioTox (www.angiotox.com) in association with 7 other collaborators across Europe. The researcher recruited to RCSI will be recruited to perform aspects of this project and will be responsible for a number of pre-clinical in vivo toxicity studies performed during this project.

The main goal of AngioTox is to comprehensively describe toxicity patterns and mechanisms, following treatment with the two main class of angiogenesis inhibitor, namely monoclonal antibodies and tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Specifically, we aim to identify safety related biomarkers following short, medium and long-term treatment with clinically approved inhibitors of angiogenesis (bevacizumab, sorafenib and sunitinib) either alone or in combination with standard
chemotherapeutics.

  • BSc in biological discipline
  • MSc or PhD
  • >4 years full-time research experience (including time spent doing post-graduate degree)

API Fellowships Program for Asian

Overview
The Nippon Foundation Fellowships for Asian Public Intellectuals (API Fellowships Program) was developed to promote the creation of intellectuals in the region. They are intended for mutual learning among Asian public intellectuals and promote the growth of public spaces in which effective responses can be generated can contribute to regional needs.

General eligibility  for grants from API Fellowships Program

  1. Candidates must be nationals or proper immigration status of one of the five participating countries of their residence in the country (Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand) at the time of application;
  2. Applicants for API Fellowships Program must be interviewed at the designated time and place;
  3. Applicants must propose research projects and/or professional activities, start in July 2012 and end on or after the end of July 2013;
  4. Applicants must have a basic knowledge of English. Competence, language’s of the country, where the proposed research project and/or professional activities are conducted an asset to speak, and
  5. Applicants must be residents of the region/country and will continue to be so in the future.
  6. When selected, they must attend the orientation in February/March 2012. Absence from the orientation may cause the cancellation of the selection.

Special Eligibility for API Fellowships Program

In addition to general eligibility criteria listed above, the applicant for the API Fellowship Program must:

  1. Be 40 years or more for 31 August 2011 (Exceptions may be made);
  2. You have the ability and experience to research projects and/or professional activities in the participating countries (Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand) to perform differently than his/her country of origin or country of residence;
  3. Undertake research projects proposed and/or professional activities in up to four participating countries (Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand), but in a country/candidates other than their country of origin or residence’s ;
  4. For API Fellowships Program, you must Undertake research projects proposed and / or occupation for a continuous period of one to 12 months and
  5. Have the opportunity to influence and means to disseminate the results of their research projects and/or professional activities.

Melbourne International Fee Remission Scholarship (MIFRS)

MIFRS scholarship – The Melbourne International Fee Remission Scholarship (MIFRS) are awarded to international students to undertake the Graduate research at the University of Melbourne. MIFRS scholarship will be funded by the university with each faculty with a limited number of grants.

Eligibility criteria for MIFRS scholarship

To be considered for MIFRS scholarship, the applicant need to have an unconditional offer of a place in a graduate research degree course (eg masters by research, PhD or other research doctorate) at the University of Melbourne. Additional information about eligibility can be found in the conditions.

Opened only to international applicants (ie citizens of countries other than Australia and New Zealand who do not reside permanently in Australia.)

MIFRS scholarship Time Line: Applicants for MIFRS scholarship must submit their application online before 31 October.
